Almost 75
communities in South Carolina hold Relay For Life events, which
provide the opportunity for everyone to participate personally
in the fight against cancer. In addition, the funds raised as a
result of these events support the American Cancer Society's
mission, including life-saving and life-changing research,
education and service programs. Each volunteer, each community
and each event impacts the Society's mission, bringing us closer
to a cure.
Because of the dedicated support of volunteers and communities
during the last year, the American Cancer Society provided...
6,295
services to South Carolina cancer patients and their families
through the Cancer Resource Network.
2,493
nights of lodging to South Carolina cancer patients and their
caregivers at our Hope Lodge in Charleston — a temporary "home
away from home" for patients undergoing treatment.
845
patients recently diagnosed with breast cancer visits from
breast cancer survivors who shared their own experience and
provided support on coping with the disease through the
Society's Reach to Recovery program.
470
cancer patients with makeup and hair techniques to help restore
their appearance and self-image during cancer treatment through
the Society's Look Good...Feel Better program.
45
college scholarships to South Carolina students who survived
cancer.
