of Targeted Community Investment Grants in 2008. These grants
financially support state, regional and local projects
consistent with the Society’s fight against cancer.

American Cancer Society has recently awarded Dan Dixon, Ph.D.,
an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at the
University of South Carolina, a Research Scholar Grant in the
amount of $711,000 to support his cancer research.

Charleston Hope Lodge was the first Society Hope Lodge to open
its doors to guests, serving over 8,000 cancer patients and
caregivers in its history. All services are free to cancer
patients and their family!
